2010 Champion Megan Venables Highland Regional's Venables races to gold medal finish in 39th Annual NJSIAA MOC Holmdel, NJ - Megan Venables of Highland Regional turned in the gold medal prformance in the 39th Annual NJSIAA Girls' Cross-Country Meet of Champions that was contested Saturday (November 20) in Holmdel Park. Venables slowly pulled away from the pack and was npt challenged when she raced the final 200 yards after coming out of the bowl as she recorded the third fastest clocking in the 39 year history of the event when she was timed in 17:45.18. The record of 17:36 was established in 1983 by Janet Smith of J.P. Stevens that had eclipsed the former standard of 17:40 set in 1982 by Michelle Brown of Washington Township. Hillsborough claimed the team title, led by Julianna Miller's fiffth place effort in 18:17.60 as the Lady Raiders recorded the sixth-fastest five-runner average of 19:22.6 while making it four-straight MOC team titles for the Skyland Conference. Placing second was Voorhees. which was led by Nisa Cicitta's 11th place finish in 18:34.53. The Lady Vikings had won this year's Skyland Conference crown wit Hillsborough occupying the runnerup slot.
